Safety. The 20th International Nuclear Forum, Safety of Nuclear Technologies: Emergency Preparedness and Response, has concluded at Rosatom’s Technical Academy. It was attended by over 100 Russian experts, alongside representatives from the IAEA, the Belarusian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Iran, and Egypt. Experts discussed the deployment of robots and drones, the use of artificial intelligence to forecast radiation conditions, the experience of emergency drills at the Kola Nuclear Power Plant, and crisis communications. “We are marking the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. That experience became our starting point in building a modern emergency preparedness and response system — a system that today protects people and the environment,” said Sergey Raykov, Director of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department at Rosatom. Providing training to industry professionals from Russia and other countries, Rosatom’s Technical Academy also serves as an IAEA Collaborating Center in knowledge management and human resource development.
