Tajikistan. The Central Design and Technology Institute has signed a contract to develop design and cost documents for the remediation of two uranium legacy sites in the Sughd region of Tajikistan. The first of them is a tailings dump near the village of Adrasman. Covering 3.45 hectares, it is 22–25 meters high and contains about 400,000 tonnes of accumulated waste. The second site is a waste dump of Workshop No. 3 at the Taboshar mine near the town of Istiqlol, spanning approximately 3 hectares. Rosatom experts have begun comprehensive engineering and radiological surveys and are preparing design documents. Upon completion, these efforts will reduce radiation exposure risks, prevent further soil and water contamination, and improve social and economic conditions in the region.
