Türkiye. Concrete pouring was completed for the turbine building walls—the key structure of the turbine island—at Unit 3 of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. The construction of the walls required over 13,100 cubic meters of concrete and nearly 2,200 tonnes of rebar. The process of erecting the walls, from ground level up to the upper level at 41.9 meters, was divided in several stages. Workers used a self-compacting concrete mix, which ensures high reliability and structural resistance to any external impacts. Various types of pumping equipment, tower cranes, and mobile cranes were used to deliver the concrete mix, rebar, and formwork. The completion of the turbine hall walls paves the way for the next phase, which includes installation of overhead cranes and roof structures.
