According to Evgeny Romanov, “Rosenergoatom” Concern General Director, in 2012 the volume of the atomic energy produced exceeded 177 billion kWh, which is 2% more than the previous year. The success is partly explained by launching of the Kalinin NPP power unit 4 in 2012. However other stations also increased the production of energy due to renewal of industry.

In Excess of the Plan, Ahead of Time
Many stations fulfilled the plan of energy production ahead of schedule. At the Smolensk NPP the first unit was modernized, which allowed the station to complete the year plan as early as December 25, having produced 20.123 billion kWh. The Balakovo NPP completed a year plan for 104.7%, 1.43 billion kWh of energy was produced in excess of the plan.

At the Beloyarsk NPP the plan was fulfilled as early as the night of December 21, with the station having produced 4,130,600,000 kWh. The reason of the record is fuel loading and technical maintenance of the unit, as they believe at the plant. It is quite symbolic that the plan fulfilment corresponded with the professional holiday, Power-Engineer’s Day. To celebrate the achievement the personnel of the Beloyarsk NPP lit the lights of Christmas tree, meaning to show the beginning of the new power-producing year.

The Rostov NPP completed the plan for 106.7 %. The amount of energy produced is more than 15.716 billion kWh, with 14.724 billion planned. Meanwhile the record amount of energy since its launching was produced by the Kursk NPP in 2012, which is 29.047 billion kWh. The records made the year profitable for peaceful atom. If the year 2011 was completed by with formal loss for “Energoatom”, then in 2012 the company could boast some good benefit. According to specialists, by 2017 the energy production at Russian NPPs may reach 186.7 billion kWh minimum, while the maximum may amount to 223.3 kWh.
