Human Resource Agreement
Fennovoima Oy, Rusatom Overseas (promoted ROSATOM’s offer in the international markets) and professional associations of Finland signed an agreement concerning the use of human resources at the NPP construction site. The agreement sets forth general rules and procedures used in construction of the nuclear power plant to the Russian technology in Pyhäjoki in Finland. “The goal of the signed agreement on the use of human resources is to establish in advance the principles of cooperation and operation before the actual start of construction works. It is done to ensure maximum professionalism and observance of the work schedule on the site of Hanhikivi-1, which will engage thousands of workers from different countries,” Fennovoima CEO Juha Nurmi stressed.

Nuclear in Brazil
Representatives of ROSATOM took part in the V International Seminar on Nuclear Energy in Brazil. Stanislav Pantyushin, head of the experimental design office at ROSATOM’s OKB Gidropress, reported on Russia’s experience in enhancing safety of VVER nuclear power plants after the Fukushima accident. Basing on results of stress tests carried out to methodologies of the IAEA and WENRA, Russian NPPs with VVER reactors (Generations II and III) were outfitted with more than 150 additional equipment items. “New NPPs with VVER reactors of Generation III+ are based on proven technologies involving new passive safety systems and barriers on radiation propagation paths, which protect from abnormal external impacts. Besides, there is a possibility of the plant to operate independently for up to 7 days (without intervention of the operating personnel and off-site support) in station blackout accidents,” he noted.

Loan is provided
The Government of Belarus, the Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank, VEB of Russia) and Belvneshekonombank signed an agreement on providing a loan to Belarus to finance advance payments under the general contract for construction of Belarus NPP. The credit line has been opened for an amount of up to US$ 500 million for up to 8 years (with 4 years of grace period). Belarus Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich emphasized that the credit line would enable Belarus to reduce currency transfers out of the country and facilitate stability of its currency market.
