Human resources as a growth driver

The parties agreed to cooperate on research and development, staff training for the nuclear industry, creation and expansion of the nuclear power infrastructure.

“This memorandum is a milestone in the cooperation between our institute and such an experienced and qualified partner as BATAN. We are prepared to share Rosatom’s extensive experience in R&D and staff training with our Indonesian partners. We have arrangements with IAEA on such cooperation, and our programs have contributed greatly to the establishment of nuclear power infrastructure in emerging nuclear countries, such as Bangladesh and Vietnam”, said CICET Rector Yuri Seleznyov at the signing ceremony.

CICET and BATAN agreed on the partnership in academic exchange and distance education. The parties plan to organize joint academic conferences, seminars and internships.

In April 2015, BATAN awarded a bid for the conceptual design of a 10 MW multipurpose power reactor to RENUKO, a Russian-Indonesian consortium involving Rosatom subsidiaries. Also in April, the Isotope Regional Association, a Rosatom Group exporter of isotopes, made the first shipment of Cobalt-60 ionizing radiation sources to Indonesia’s Rel-ion.

This document is yet another step towards implementation of the memorandum signed by Rosatom and BATAN at the Atomexpo 2015 International Forum on 2 June in Moscow. Rosatom’s Regional Office for Southeast Asia in Singapore will assist in implementation of the document.

“Competent staff and extensive R&D infrastructure is a key to successful development of national nuclear industries. This is but logical that we start with this important and promising aspect in implementing the memorandum signed earlier by Rosatom and BATAN,” noted Yegor Simanov, Director of the Regional Office for Southeast Asia.

Rosatom’s Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training is a leading educational institution for Rosatom’s employees and managers. Since 2011, CICET has been working with IAEA on assisting emerging nuclear countries in the development of their nuclear infrastructure.
