Historic Maximum
back to contentsThis outlook was voiced by Alexander Shutikov, Deputy General Director and Director for Production and Operation of NPPs at Rosenergoatom (operator of all nuclear power plants of the country) at an annual meeting of chief engineers of Russian NPPs. He noted that in the first half of the year Rosenergoatom’s nuclear power plants had already produced 87.9 billion kWh of electricity. The largest increment in generation was achieved at the expense of contributions of Kursk and Balakovo NPPs (over 1.5 and 1.2 billion kWh, respectively). As of August 1, the excess was already about 6.3 billion kWh of electricity. According to Alexander Shutikov, one of the most important reserves for building up electricity output today is shortening of downtime and excessive idling during scheduled outages of the reactors.
