The first-year Turkish students of the Atomic Energy Institute of the National Reseacrh Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI) visited Kalinin NPP in Tver region. The group of journalists of Anadolu, big Turkish news agency also visited the plant together with the students. The Project Company AKKUYU NPP JSC was an organizer of the visit. After the tour to the TCP a student, Sinem Gonulol, gave an interview to a journalist of Anadolu Turkish news agency, where she said: “We are very glad that our future activities will be related to hi-tech equipment, and our profession will be in demand in Turkey. As of today our country suffers electric power deficit, and the nuclear energy will help to decrease it and reduce dependence of the state from the import of hydrocarbons”.
Ahead Of Schedule
The works of nuclear island construction at unit 2 of the Belarus NPP, conducted with the assistance of Russian specialists, are to start in April. “NPP construction is going on ahead of schedule, the work at unit 1 nuclear island is already under way. In April the works are expected to start at the second unit”, – said the representative of Belarus. According to Ministry of Energy of Belarus, in 2014 at the plant construction $ 450 mln of investments are planned to be spent. Today about 75% of works on site are being done by Belarus specialists, while in Minsk they say that this number may increase.
Rosatom Showed Its Capabilities
Rosatom participated in the third annual Power-Gen Africa conference in Cape Town (the RSA). A joint exposition of an exhibition of Rosatom with the participation of NIAEP- Atomstroyexport engineering company and experimental design bureau Gidropress. Its part were press walls, illustrating Rosatom’s capabilities in full nuclear fuel cycle, State Corporation’s leading positions at the world market of nuclear technologies and advantages of the VVER-TOI reactor. “POWER-GEN Africa” is an international exhibition and conference for specialists of energy-intensive industries responsible for energy provision, representatives of national and regional ministers and energy policy responsible departments.
