SNUS is a professional association of experts in such fields as nuclear energy, nuclear technology and ionizing radiation. Membership is intended to promote the cooperation expansion between Slovak and Russian scientific and academic communities in nuclear sphere. Slovakia and Russia have a common successful history in nuclear industry. 2 NPPs constructed by Russian and Slovak specialists basing on Russian nuclear technologies produce more than half of the Slovak electricity. “That’s why our intention to enter SNUS is quite logic”, – emphasized Denisa Volekova, Director of Rusatom Overseas Branch in Slovakia. – I believe our membership in SNUS will help strengthen cooperation between Slovak and Russian companies, scientists and students”.

“Slovak nuclear energy traditionally stems from Russian technologies therefore we welcome the membership of Rusatom Overseas. – said Vladimir Slugen, President of Slovak Nuclear Society said. – “Today Rosatom is the world leader in atomic energy and one of the companies implementing innovation projects. The membership will allow our members to enhance the interaction with one of the world leaders in nuclear technology. I believe that this cooperation will help to raise the level of knowledge, research and academicals cooperation”.

Today in Slovakia the construction of units 3 and 4 of the Mokhovtse NPP based on Russian technologies is going on, the reactor type is VVER-440. Within this framework the implementation of Russian-Slovak contract for supply on a turnkey basis of in-core control systems, measuring boron concentration and subsystems of coolant level control in reactor system and also neutron noise monitoring systems inside reactor , is going on. From the moment of their start-up all Slovakian NPP units work on Russian nuclear fuel.

Earlier Rusatom Overseas had entered Czech Nuclear Society. Russian VVER reactor is used at all six power units of the “Dukhovany” and “Temelin” NPPs.

“The Czech Nuclear Society is one of the most important Czech organizations dealing with the nuclear energy, and that is why we consider our membership to be extremely important. The Society associates Czech companies and institutions which have rich experience with our technologies, so there is much to build on,” says Zdeněk Šíma, Director of the Czech branch of Rusatom Overseas.

“Thanks to the cooperation with the Czech Nuclear Society we can deepen the communication with Czech expert and wide public about the project of extraordinarily safe and effective nuclear power plant, which is offered by the Consortium MIR.1200 and which will support the whole Czech industry”, – adds Leoš Tomíček, Executive Vice-President of Rusatom Overseas.

“For the Czech Republic it is also profitable to have such a partner. It is not only that the VVER technology is applied at all units of Temelin NPP and Dukovany NPP. Rosatom is currently one of the top companies in the development of innovative projects in nuclear energy. Thanks to Rusatom Overseas membership in the Czech Nuclear Society the Czech expert public will have the possibility to learn more about these technologies,” explains Miroslav Kawalec, the Vice-President for program affairs.
