As part of the Conference and Exhibition, Rosatom presented its competencies in heat power engineering at a seminar attended by more than 170 professionals from large and mid-size African companies. Nikolai Drozdov, Director of Rosatom’s International Business Department, said that the POWER-GEN Africa Conference is a perfect venue to present the company’s track record in thermal engineering. “POWER-GEN offers us an opportunity to meet power industry leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa, a very important region for Rosatom. We are sure that we have feasible thermal engineering technologies and, based on years of experience, we are ready to participate in the modernization of existing thermal stations,” he said.

Rosatom’s engineering division presented its project portfolio comprising 20 reactor construction and modernization projects in Russia. Rosatom’s united engineering company NIAEP-ASE-AEP has designed and constructed over 100 thermal and hydro power plants in the former Soviet republics and abroad, including countries with subtropical, tropical and sub-equatorial climates (Algeria, Vietnam, Cuba, Egypt, Iraq and Korea).

Dmitri Vysotsky, Head of International Business at NIAEP-ASE-AEP, stressed the company’s expertise in turn-key EPC projects in the nuclear and thermal industries. “NIAEP-ASE-AEP is ready to provide a full range of EPC services – from research and development to commissioning. We have built tens of power units in Russia, most of them still in operation. We are able and willing to share our expertise with potential partners in Africa,” said Dmitri Vysotsky.

Comprehensive solutions
Rosatom’s engineering division Atomenergomash held a seminar for its customers. Deputy Sales Director Andrei Shevlyakov and Chief Designer Vladimir Mikhailov from ZIOMAR spoke about production, modernization and maintenance capacities of the engineering division in the thermal energy field.

As Andrei Shevlyakov explained, the engineering company ZIOMAR and the production facility ZiO-Podolsk are two centers of thermal engineering expertise in the design and production of boilers and heat exchangers for the thermal, petrochemical and nuclear industries. ZiO-Podolsk has been producing thermal energy equipment for nearly a century. Over 700 plants have been operated in more than 20 countries of the world. Their total installed capacity exceeds 66 GW.

Available premises, infrastructure and technology enable the company to expand its offering for conventional and new market segments. For example, ZiO-Podolsk produces waste heat boilers under the license of NEM. Besides, the company negotiates a number of projects to organize the production of ultra supercritical boilers, small-scale and distributed generation equipment, and solid waste recycling plants.

It should be noted that Atomenergomash focuses on comprehensive solutions, rather than on individual units and components. Comprehensive offerings include design, equipment production, logistics, installation, warranty services and maintenance.
