Electricity Generation. Russian NPPs set a record in 2022 as they generated over 223.371 billion kWh (222.4 billion kWh in 2021). This made it possible to avoid over 109 million tons of CO2-equivalent emissions. The maximum output among Russian NPPs was provided by Balakovo NPP (over 35.700 billion kWh), Rostov NPP (over 35.046 billion kWh) and Kalinin NPP (over 32.636 billion kWh). Leningrad NPP produced a record amount of electricity in its entire history: 31.4 billion kWh. This station covers more than 30% of energy consumption in the North-West of Russia.
