“Petrozavodskmash” presented some new equipment for the Leningrad NPP-2, currently under construction. The plant is the branch of Rosatom State Corporation machine building division, specializing in producing sets for nuclear, thermal power and gas-oil chemical industries. The first set of the main circulating pump vessels for power unit 2 of the Leningrad NPP-2 was produced in Petrozavodsk. The pump (MCP) is the item of the first class safety. It provides the coolant circulation in the main circulation line from reactor to steam-generator and back. This equipment demands long-term manufacturing, that’s why the work on it started back in 2010. Today the set containing four spherical shells was sent to the Central Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau (also part of “Atomenergomash”). There the equipment is to be filled with vessel internals and further sent to the Leningrad NPP-2 construction site.

Welding in a New Light
In order for “Petrozavodskmash” to provide more efficiency, the new set of machinery for automatic submerged-arc welding was launched. The welding complex consists of two parts – portal and welding column, designed for inner and outer circular welds maintenance on bowl-shaped items. The manufacturer produced a welding column of a special design exclusively for “Petrozavodskmash”: in case of full-boom extension the arm provides higher bearing resistance, may perform a 180° motorized turn, while a special mechanical device absorbs arm vibration. There are two work stations at the portal – one for the welder and the other for the welder’s assistant. During its operation the portal may move along the axis of the welded device on a specially designed railway. The automatic control system and a tactile weld tracking system minimize the human factor aspect. 

Atom for Oil
The branch of “AEM-technologies” in Volgodonsk, another enterprise of “Atomenergomash”, produced and dispatched a hydrotreater unit specially for TNK-VR, Ryazan oil refining company. This equipment is to become part of the new isomerizating set of the oil-refining complex in Ryazan. The hydrotreater unit is a vertical cylindrical container meant for hydrogenation of compounds, containing sulphur, nitrogen, chlorine and oxygen. Today Volgodonsk branch of “AEM-technologies” is building two more oil-refining reactors for the company. 

Machinery for Building
Afrikantov EDBMB, a large scientific and production centre of nuclear engineering in Nizhny Novgorod, successfully completed testing of a fuel-handling machine for the Rostov NPP. The equipment is meant for power unit 3 which is currently under construction. On-site installation is scheduled for the second quarter of 2013. In 2009 Afrikantov EDBMB delivered such a machine for unit 2. The equipment for unit 4 is currently under construction.
