At the construction site of the Baltic NPP there were performed works on the concrete casting of the Unit 1 foundation plate. Works were carried out by the specialists of JSC United Energy-construction Corporation under the supervision of the branch of Rosenergoatom Concern Baltic NPP construction Directorate and the general contractor NIAEP JSC. The Baltic NPP was founded on February 25, 2012, in the Neman district of Kaliningradskaya oblast. It is being built according to AES-2006 project, that is, will have two power units with the total capacity of 2300 MW. The designed lifetime of the NPP is 50 years, of the basic equipment – 60. The plant is designed for providing Kaliningradskaya oblast with energy and also for supplying abroad.

“Rusatom Overseas” a subsidiary of State Corporation Rosatom, established in 2011 for promoting Russian nuclear technologies on the world market, became a collective member of Russian-Czech mixed chamber of commerce.
Its entry occurred soon after the opening of the company representative office in Czech Republic in the middle of November. The main task of the Prague office is to attract Czech companies as Rosatom possible suppliers for project implementations in Russia, Czech Republic and other countries. “Rusatom Overseas” entered CNS as well.
This step is meant to strengthen the partnership between Russian and Czech companies and institutions in the areas of science, research and construction of NPP using VVER technology. The VVER reactor is being used at all six power units of “Temelin” and “Dukovany” NPPs. Rosatom is currently participating in the tender for the 3 and 4-th units construction for “Temelin” NPP.

The NRHF decommissioning consortium has been created in Rosatom.
The new association includes the following companies: ASE JSC, NUKEM Technologies, GSPI and SverdNIIkhimmash. The task of the consortium is decommissioning of nuclear and radiation-dangerous objects as well as spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste management. GSPI will carry out domestic marketing, project works and integrated engineering radiological surveys. The task of NUKEM Technologies is international market, implementation of relevant technologies and programs of NRHF decommissioning and SNF and RAW project management. SverdNIIkhimmash is to do design, manufacture and supply of special equipment, while NIAP-ASE performs functions of the Principal Contactor.

Rosatom has become the winner of the International Contest “The Best Innovator”.
The contest was organized by Advanced Degree Consulting Club A.T. Kearney with the support of Forbes magazine, Russian School of Economy and Skolkovo Science and Technology Institute. The Jury analyzed effectiveness of more than 30 companies who achieved success in managing innovations in different industries. The independent experts evaluated not only quality of products but also organizational structure efficiency. The State Corporation won the price in the “Large Business” category, the “Products and Services” nomination. The specialists admitted the scale of business and the significance of Rosatom in the international field.

December 17 Russia and United Arab Emirates signed an agreement on cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
The agreement was signed by Sergei Kiriyenko, head of the Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom, and UAE Deputy Energy Minister Mohammed bin Zain al-Hamli. It lays the legal groundwork for technology transfers and the delivery of nuclear materials to the energy sector. According to Kiriyenko, this is a comprehensive agreement, the work on which was started as far as 2009, encompassing cooperation in all areas of nuclear energy, including uranium mining and processing, fuel production, research and building NPPs. That is the whole civil nuclear power cycle can be performed within the bounds of the agreement, says Kiriyenko.

Philips may localize in Russia its accessory equipment production for nuclear medicine costing € 30 billion.
The announcement was made at the round-table session “Development and localization prospects of medical equipment component parts in Russia”, which took place November 13 within “Atomex-2012”, the atomic industry suppliers forum. Philips and Rosatom are planning to produce diagnostic equipment that meets world standards. As said Mikhail Batkov, Director of Radiation Technologies Program, this will allow Russian suppliers join the Philips global technological chain – both private companies and nuclear industry organizations.
