Oleg Deripaska, the En+ Group President was reelected a Chairman of the new Board of Directors of AKME-engineering.
Other members are: Aliev Dzhomart, “Rusatom Overseas” General Director; Buriko Alexandra, En+ Group Deputy General Director; Pavlov Sergey, Director of the State Scientific Center – Research Institute of Atomic Reactors (SSC RIAR); Pershukov Viacheslav, Deputy Director General and Director of the Innovations Management Block of the State Corporation Rosatom; Petrochenko Vladimir, AKME-engineering General Director. AKME-engineering is a joint government-private venture, owned in equal (50/50) shares by the State Corporation Rosatom and power generation and distribution company Irkutskenergo (controlled by En + Group). AKME-engineering was established in 2009 for the development, production and commercialization of 100 MW lead-bismuth fast reactors – the SVBR-100 project.
The agreement between Russia and Mexico over cooperation in nuclear energy field will be signed in the course of the year 2013, said Eduard Malayan, new Russian Ambassador in Mexico City.
“Our partnership is valid not only for traditional types of trade, but also for the spheres like atomic energy. I thanked the President of Mexico for his support of the bilateral agreement over cooperation in the field, which is to be signed within this year”, said Malayan to Russian journalists after the ceremony of presentation of credentials by Enrique Peña Nieto. Malayan assured the President of Mexico, that Russia believes the country to be one of its leading partners in Latin America, both in political and economical sense and will make efforts to maintain the two countries relationship at the appropriate level.
Russia and Norway signed a five year agreement on cooperation in the sphere of nuclear safety in the North region, as informed the RF Ministry of Defense press center.
The document is to provide legal support for cooperation of the two countries in nuclear safety of the Kola Peninsula. The previous agreement of this kind expired last December. During the previous cooperation between Rosatom and Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority some hangars had been built above the SNF storage facilities in the bay of the Motovsky gulf, which improved ecological situation in the region. In the coming five years the main attention will be paid for reconstruction of the Andreeva Bay, a radioactive waste storage place. The polluted region is expected to be totally renewed by 2025.
The RF and the Republic of Cuba signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of nuclear medicine and production of radiopharmaceuticals.
The document was signed on February 21 by Rosatom and AENTA, a part of Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, during the visit of the PM of the RF, Dmitry Medvedev, to Havana. The nuclear cooperation with Cuba had been strong in 1970-ies, when there was achieved an agreement on Construction of the Huragua NPP, consisting of four power units with VVER-400 reactors. The building started in 1984. According to the schedule, the first unit was to be launched in 1995-1996. However, taking into consideration the slump in the two countries cooperation that followed soon, the construction was stopped. In 2009 Russia and Cuba agreed on gradual resumption of cooperation in the peaceful atom sphere. Thus, in May 2009 Sergey Kiriyenko, the Rosatom General Director, said that the parties were planning to cooperate in application of isotopes in medicine and agricultural industry on the basis of the nuclear research center in Havana.
The VTB bank is ready to grant a $1 billion loan to Rosatom for NPP construction in Vientam, said Valery Lukyanenko, VTB Management Board Member, to the journalists last Thursday.
He also noted that the VTB has its shares in the Russian-Vietnamese bank, so the money can be provided with the help of this structure. Besides, the bank is thinking about supporting the contract settles of NPP building in Vietnam. The VTB group is planning to finance housing building for NPP employees, as well as subsidy mortgage program for Rosenergoatom Concern personnel.
Prime Minister Boiko Borisov of Bulgaria resigned from his post after a tumultuous week of public anger over rising electricity prices.
The Parliament of the country already accepted the resignation of the government. According to Euronews, the minimum wages in Bulgaria is BGL 260 (about EUR 130), an average retiring pension – BGL 138, while the costs of electricity in January grew by 120%, according to mass media. All this resulted in demonstrations and fights with police with dozens of people injured. The “Belene” project could have saved the situation, shouldn’t the government have declared it off at the end of the last year. In January 2013 the national referendum was held, where more than 60% of the participants present voted for the new power plant. However the election committee declared the referendum void, since the turnout, according to the law, should be not lower than that during the Parliament election.
