AtomEco is an international platform for discussing ecological aspects of nuclear industry. AtomEco-2013 will be held in the year declared Year of Conservation by the President of Russia. This proves high attention the government pays to environmental issues.

The International Forum AtomEco-2013 will be traditionally attended by leading Russian and international companies, research institutes dealing with recycling of industrial waste, radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management, cleaning of various media, including representatives of atomic energy authorities, regulatory and supervisory authorities.

Discussion ground
This year’s program is planned to be extremely rich, offering meetings and round-table sessions on the following subjects: development of technology and creation of system of RW management at all stages of the life cycle; decommissioning of nuclear and radiation hazardous facilities and rehabilitation of nuclear heritage facilities; Information Systems and Applied Technology; international experience of creation of radioactive waste disposal facilities: organizational structure and safety assurance of radioactive waste management; geological problems of water facilities protection in the nuclear industry; introduction of up-to-date systems of environmental monitoring and control at industry facilities.

For the first time at the VII International Forum AtomEco-2013 a round table with the participation of representatives of the Department for Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste Management of Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), will take place. The main topic – “Experience of NEA OECD Activities and International Cooperation”. Work materials of the Department for Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste Management, including handling of radioactive waste upon decommissioning of nuclear and radiation-dangerous objects, of nuclear development and legislation, will be presented. The specialists will tell about the principles of agency activities, current projects, significant results and work outlook. This information will be interesting both for the industry’s organizations’ executives and for professional stuff members.

Ecology in Practice
On the 1st of November 2013, as part of the AtomEco-2013 7th International Forum, the visitors will have a unique chance to visit NPK FSUE Radon – the enterprise, performing all kinds of works with radioactive waste. Radon deals with improvement and elaboration of up-to-date methods of RW management, as well as environment control and protection systems. The enterprise does all kinds of RW handling – collecting, transportation, treatment and safe storage, as well as radiation emergency service, radioecological and mercury monitoring. The enterprise collects and treats radioactive waste from 11 regions of Central Russia.

Foreign participants and delegates of the Tour will see the cutting-edge Russian achievements in implementing full-cycle RWM technologies and results of advanced developments of RW processing technologies on the basis of a research and development center.

In 2012 the International Forum AtomEco was attended by about 1,000 participants. 56 companies participated in the exhibition. More than 150 speakers with presentations and reports gave talks at round-table discussions and breakout sessions. The event was covered by more than 50 representatives of Russian and foreign mass media.
