The practical use of a representative complex of the upper-level system (RC ULS) was demonstrated at the forum. The mock-up is the solution provided by Rolls-Royce, which includes a rack with components of the reactor protection system built with the use of the Spinline technology and VNIIAES’ solution, i.e. upper-level software based on PO PORTAL and installed in RC ULS. The system link Rolls-Royce-VNIIAES resulted from integration of both systems was displayed in the demonstration mode.

Jana Kubinová, Director for Business Development at Rolls-Royce said about the cooperation with ROSATOM: “We have worked with ROSATOM since 2011. Our key partner is VNIIAES. Our technology operates at any type of reactor. With VNIIAES we worked for BN-800 design. We developed the basic design. We have a great advantage: we undertake to service the system throughout its entire lifecycle of 60 years

We have a great advantage: we undertake to service the system throughout its entire lifecycle of 60 years. There are a few vendors in the world who would undertake such obligations. We have such contacts with the French company EDF. An example is the plant Paluel in France where we carry out such maintenance. We supplied the safety system for the first time in 1983; serviced it for 25 years and now we modernize it; a contract has been signed with EDF for the next 25 years of support. Today, ROSATOM works on the export market. We hope that the plant in Finland, Hanhikivi-1 will be the first one where our development will be implemented. We have a great experience in licensing safety systems in western countries. With this, the Finnish regulator is one of the most stringent. We want to share the licensing experience and support VNIIAES and other ROSATOM’s companies in developing the licensing plan and writing the documentation. Today, we are ready to offer Russian and foreign customers the integrated system.”

VNIIAES and Rolls-Royce are recognized leaders in the development, supply and integration of APCS systems for NPPs. They possess unique technologies and this allows offering the customer the solutions that meet world standards and requirements of the time and market. Their cooperation that lasts since 2009 allows hoping for synergy of a more consistent and complete solution that meets the principle of diversity of the NPP safety systems.
