“Proryv” in 3D
back to contentsRussian Federal Nuclear Center – All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (VNIIEF) in Sarov (Nizhegorodsky region) developed “Logos” – the software meant for calculations and 3D modeling of highly sophisticated objects. From 2015 it will be supplied to NPPs for industrial use, rocket-and-space, aviation and automaker enterprises. The SW developed by VNIIEF will work at NPP within the limits of the “Proryv” (breakthrough) program, suggesting creating new types of fast breeder reactors, producing newest types of fuel for nuclear reactors and processing nuclear fuel waste. Until 2020 the “Proryv” program is implemented by Rosatom.
Logos will help enterprises to refuse certain experiments and tests for rocket, aircraft and vehicle making, doing computer calculations instead. Now the project is on the beta-testing stage, it is already used by the “Sukhoy” air-company, “Kamaz” Plant, OKBM-Afrikantov Design Bureau, SPbAEP engineering company, Gydropress and Research and Development Center for Rocket and Space Industry.
According to VNIIEF, the application of computer modeling while designing Boeing-777 aircrafts sped up the term of project realization by one year and saved $ 2 billion. The development of the Logos SW pack started in 2005, with about RUB 250 million spared from federal budget. About the same sum came from non-budgetary sources. The work was finished in December 2012, the results administered by the State Commission.
Besides Logos VNIIEF has designed other SW packs for supercomputer: LEGAK-DK, DANKO-SADKO and NIMFA. Creation of domestic software is extremely important, it will provide national informational security and bring the basis for innovative development of leading Russia’s industries, as experts believe.
