The two components were manufactured on AEM Technologies’ production site in Volgodonsk and are designed to fix the reactor vessel in its permanent position. The rings can withstand critical loads arising in emergency situations, such as an earthquake, and have the highest degree of seismic resistance. Each having over 5 meters in diameter, the bearing ring weighs nearly 20 tons and the support ring over 10 tons. The rings are transported by road and require international transit permits for oversize cargo. The total length of the route exceeds 2,200 km.
